Due to this combination of dry, arid climate of New Mexico and humid, mild weather of the Pacific Northwest, Zappa hop has got its unique, rebellious flavor and characteristics.
In fact, this contradiction was the idea behind the name – this hop was named after a famous musician Frank Zappa, whose music was so eclectic it never belonged to any specific genre.
Zappa hop features spicy flavor with a lot of tropical fruit notes, pine, and citrus. It works well for hazy IPAs, pale ales, American strong ale, and other mixed-fermentation styles of beer.
