Packages are shipped through the best available method, depending on the product and destination. Shipping costs will be calculated accordingly and added to your shopping cart. To get your shipping cost calculated, simply add products to the shopping cart and enter your postal code. Freight Carrier may be required for large or heavy items. Freight Carrier delivery does not include carrying the package into the building or unpacking. Lift-gate service is available for an additional charge which is automatically included in your shipping quote.

Products are usually shipped within 24 hours of order placement (on business days) from our warehouses in Canada and the US.

What Is a Beer Faucet?

A draft beer faucet may look like a pretty basic piece of equipment but we know that there is no such thing as “unimportant” when it comes to beer dispensing.

The standard beer faucet is made of brass or chrome-plated brass. It features a ⅜’’ threaded lever for tap handles that pull forward to pour and push back to stop the flow of beer. It attaches to the shank or tower via a coupling nut and tightens with a spanner wrench.

Beer Faucet Parts

A typical beer tap faucet consists of the following parts (top to bottom):

Collar
Bonnet
Friction washer
Ball washer
Lever
Shaft
Shaft seat
Shaft nut
Tap handle

Types of Beer Faucets

In addition to the standard brass variety, beer tap faucets can also be made of stainless steel. A stainless steel beer faucet looks very similar to the standard brass or chrome-plated brass models.

However, this type of faucet presents a more hygienic solution that offers a cleaner pour, which is a must for use with wine, cocktail, and coffee dispensing as the acidity in these beverages will corrode a plated brass faucet affecting the taste of the beverage being poured.

Other interesting varieties of faucets are:

Self-closing faucet. Self-closing faucets have a spring-loaded shaft that allows the handle to close immediately upon release
Perlick beer faucet. This type of faucets is also known as “forward sealing beer faucet.” It is different from the standard beer faucet as it features a forward sealing design, which minimizes oxygen exposure in your faucet creating a more hygienic pour with less chance of microbial growth
Flow control faucet. This type of faucets allows you to regulate the pouring speed on the side of the faucet while maintaining the same PSI levels in the beer flow. They are perfect for filling tasting glasses and growlers
Stout beer faucet. It is used for pouring nitrogen-dispensed beer, most notably Guinness

What Is a Beer Shank?

A beer shank is another essential draft beer system part. It is a threaded metal tube that connects to the beer line and runs either through your refrigerator or the top of your draft tower.

One end of a beer shank features a female thread for the beer line and the other features a male thread for the faucet.

The beer shank serves as a transition point between the faucet and the beer line. It conducts cold perfectly allowing you to maintain the proper temperature of beer as it flows all the way from the keg to the beer tower.

As with beer faucets, shanks come in two main varieties:

Chrome-plated brass shanks
Stainless steel shanks
