McCann Probe & Float Assembly
The probe and float assembly is the part that fails most often on McCann carbonators and when it does, the whole unit goes down. This is the OEM replacement potted probe and float kit for 115V applications, compatible with both the McCann 43 Series (Small) and McCann Big Mac (E Series) carbonators.
The potted probe design means the electronic components are fully encapsulated in epoxy resin, making them waterproof. On the original non-potted design, moisture intrusion into the probe electronics was the primary cause of failure. The potted version eliminates that failure point specifically engineered to cut service calls, reduce downtime and extend the part's lifespan. It installs on previous-generation carbonators without modification fully backwards compatible.
Removal and installation is straightforward: three Phillips head screws hold the assembly in place. No need to depressurize the tank or shut off the CO2 supply to swap it out, which means a technician can service it in place without taking the whole carbonation system offline. That's a significant advantage in a busy bar or restaurant where downtime during service is not an option.
The float controls the water level inside the carbonator tank. When it fails, the carbonator either runs dry - which kills carbonation output - or overfills, which can back water into the CO2 line. Either way, the beverage program stops working. Replacing a worn or failed probe and float assembly restores normal water level regulation and gets the unit running properly again.
