This is the gas post that threads into the top of a Cornelius-style ball lock keg, the part your ball lock gas disconnect actually locks onto. It's made from 304 stainless steel and threads in with a standard 19/32"-18 fitting, the same thread size Cornelius uses on both its posts.
A spring-loaded poppet valve sits inside the post and stays closed until a disconnect pushes it open, so the keg holds pressure whenever nothing's hooked up to it. The O-ring seals the post against the keg body to keep it from leaking. It's a common part to replace if a keg is losing pressure or won't hold gas, since the poppet and O-ring wear out well before the post itself does.
