Using Water Filters in Homebrewing
One important thing every water filter should do is carbon filtration to remove chlorine because that will add unwanted flavours downstream in the finished product and will definitely spoil the taste of your beer.
That level of attention to the water quality separates beginner homebrewers from the ones who have gained enough experience to know what exactly they want from the final product. The carryover of chlorophenols into the beer is not acceptable by any means since it will ruin the taste and spoil the yeast as well.
An even more professional approach would be using reverse osmosis. Reverse osmosis is a water purification process that uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove unwanted molecules, ions, and larger particles from drinking water.
The water passes through this special membrane while larger molecules (e.g., dissolved salts) and other impurities like bacteria are rejected.
